We love burger night at my house. Most of the time, we stick to classic toppings like cheese, pickles, and mayo. But I do like to switch things up a bit with fun, flavorful options. These Asian Burgers with Broccoli Slaw really hit the spot when we were craving something a little different.

This easy recipe is low carb, keto, gluten-free, grain-free, sugar-free, and Trim Healthy Mama friendly.

If you’ve never had Asian style turkey burgers, you’re in for a treat! These are the best burgers that really don’t take a lot of time. Switch up burger night from ground beef to ground turkey, and enjoy the fun flavor. It’s lean meat, without sacrificing taste.

Ingredients

  • Ground pork or turkey – You can use either type of meat for this burger recipe.
  • Chopped sweet peppers – These add a pop of sweet and a nice color.
  • Chopped green onions – Adds flavor!
  • Garlic powder – Garlic powder adds a hint of garlic flavor.
  • Ground ginger – Ginger adds a nice warm flavor.
  • Soy sauce or coconut aminos – Coconut aminos have lower sodium but either will work.
  • Salt – For flavor.
  • Broccoli slaw – Used for the slaw topping.
  • Sesame oil – Thins out the dressing for the slaw.
  • Olive oil – Helps to add a thin texture to the dressing.
  • Apple cider vinegar – Adds a kick of flavor to the slaw.

How to Make Asian Turkey Burgers

Step One: These burgers are made the same as most other types of burgers. Just mix together the ground meat, chopped veggies, and seasonings. Once that is done, you can either pan fry them or grill them.

Step Two: Make the slaw by combining all the ingredients together in a bowl and mixing well.

Top Tip💡

Save time making this Asian Turkey Burger recipe by using prepackaged broccoli slaw mix for the topping. That way, you don’t have to waste time cutting or prepping ingredients needed for the slaw.

Substitutions

  • Beef burger – If you really wanted to have a beef burger, you could swap it out and use a beef burger. I like to use ground turkey because it’s less fat.

Variations

  • Toppings – There are so many different toppings that you can add to these Asian turkey burgers. You can add tomato slices, sriracha mayo, diced bell peppers, butter lettuce, diced onions, and more. This can be in addition to the slaw mix, or to replace it.

Equipment

All you need to make these flavorful burgers is a large bowl, an instant-read thermometer, a large skillet, and a spatula.

Storage

Leftover turkey burgers are perfect for meal prep! I like to make a batch of these burgers, and then have them to eat throughout the week. You can store the cooked burgers in an airtight container and be sure to keep them refrigerated.

You can also freeze turkey burgers for later!

Common Questions

What to serve with Asian Turkey Burgers?

These are really a meal all on their own! Some great side options are keto fries, a green salad with extra Asian dressing (just double the dressing that goes with the broccoli slaw), or even keto cauliflower mash. You can also serve with French fries or sweet potato fries.

What is the best way to patty burgers without making a mess?

The key to making burger patties without a big mess is to have slightly damp hands. That way, the lean ground turkey mixture doesn’t stick to your hands while you’re making the patties. I also clean my hands with a paper towel once I feel like they’re starting to get a little bit sticky.

Can I patty burgers ahead of time?

If you like to meal prep, you can patty burgers and layer them in a single layer with some plastic wrap between each layer.

How do I stop burgers from shrinking when cooking them?

Make an indentation with your finger in the center of each patty. The indentation shouldn’t go all the way through the burger, just a little dent to help the patties not shrivel. As you’re cooking the patties in the large non-stick skillet, this small dent will help them not to shrink, keeping them close to the size that they were pattied as.
